RepairsWe’re often asked if faulty
machines can be repaired. In most cases, the answer is yes but a better
question might be, “can the machine be repaired cost effectively”.
The answer to this question is
often less decisive. With the steady increase in the cost of labour and a
parallel reduction in the cost of some new equipment, the replacement
choice may in many cases prove attractive. There are a number of factors
that need to be weighed to provide an answer that is right for your
practice. First the approximate cost of
repair vs the cost to replace. Although it is not possible to provide
quotes before the equipment has been examined in the workshop, in many
cases we can provide an estimate that may help in your decision-making
process. In addition we will undertake not to exceed negotiated sums
without first seeking your approval. Next the age of the machine should
be considered. Many units that were built more than ten years ago have
been very robust and have provided great service but the manufacturers no
longer support them and it is difficult to source parts. It should also be
remembered that remaining parts are also likely to be suffering some
fatigue and although the weakest link has failed, there may be other parts
in a similar state of wear and tear. |

In some practices where image is
an important consideration, an aging unit may detract from the carefully
crafted therapeutic environment. Many modern units combine multiple
functions that previously required several units to provide the same
treatment. The combined option should always be weighed against the loss
of all functions if the unit needs to be repaired. Our workshop partners will
continue to undertake repairs with the hope that units will go on to
provide long and useful service to the owners but the decision to repair a
unit should not be automatic. In many cases, replacement is a better and
more cost effective solution. If you decide to repair your equipmentAs our business has continued to
